Description

Partial Adjudication

Enables a POS system to request whether there are any valid and active promotions available to the consumer in real-time by sending both the consumer's identity (for example, an email address, or membership ID), and the items that they are purchasing (for example, what is in their basket). This in turn allows for ‘Partial Adjudication’ to take place.

  • POS Connect checks if there are any valid points promotions that the basket items qualify for, and calculates how many points should be earnt before returning details of these to the POS along with the type of operations that are required to be performed.
  • POS Connect does not adjust the transaction value in this mode.
  • The POS system retains ownership of applying the promotion business rules of any discount based coupons that have been calculated by POS Connect.
  • The POS system can request to settle the transaction once the consumer has paid, either in real-time or at a later date e.g at the end of each day. Settling the transaction performs any required actions (for example, awarding points, or redeeming coupons) and returns details of the completed transaction to the POS system.

Full Basket Adjudication

Allows the POS system to request POS Connect to apply any valid and active promotions available to the consumer in real-time by sending both the consumer's identity (for example, an email address, or membership ID), and the items that they are purchasing (for example, what is in their basket) and allows for ‘Full Basket Adjustment’ to take place and the final transaction value to be calculated.

  • POS Connect calculates the points/discount value after any valid promotions that the basket items qualify for have been applied, and automatically applies these to the transaction value.
  • POS Connect takes ownership of both calculating and applying the promotion business rules.
  • POS Connect automatically settles the transaction and performs any required actions as part of the POS system’s request.

Point-in-time Adjudication

The ability to specify the date and time that should be used to adjudicate. This can be used to create transactions for past events, whilst ensuring the consumer receives the rewards that they were eligible for at that time.

Spend

ItemDescription
PointsPOS Connect supports two ways to allow a customer to spend points; the first is to provide a number of points to be redeemed. POS Connect will calculate the value of the points based on scheme rules and any spend rate modifier coupons that are available.
Monetary ValueAn alternative to option is to provide a monetary value that represents the portion of the transaction that should be paid for with points. In this case the amount is converted to points based on scheme rules and redeemed as part of the transaction.
